ALERT Chair PDG Harold Hobson Lion Harold was born in Toronto, Ontario and is married to Patricia Hobson for the past 47 years. They have four children and 8 grandchildren.

Lion Harold is a charter member of the Huttonville Lions Club for over 33 years. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson fellowship, life member of Camp Dorset and life member of the Lions Foundation of Canada.

Lion Harold has held the office of the president of the Huttonville Lions Club in the years 1990-91 and 2004-05.

In District A711, Lion Harold has held the positions of Zone & Region Chair twice, 2nd Vice District Governor for 2013/14, 1st VDG for 2014/15 and DG for 2015/16.

Lion Harold was inducted as Governor of District A711 in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 30, 2015.

After working for 20 years for an international plastic company as an Environment Health & Safety/Quality Manager, he is now retired.

Camp Dorset Yves Drouin Lion Yves has been a lion for over 23 years. He worked on the Sight First One Program and has served as Zone Chair as well as the President of his club. He served as the charter Treasurer of the Brampton Village Lions Club.

He gathers fellows lions together annually for the Brampton Village Lions as the chairman of their golf tournament . He has served the District for two terms and is still the Chairperson for A711 of Camp Dorset.

He is a life member of both Lions Foundation of Canada as well as Camp Dorset and is a committee member of the VIP Lions Car Rally.

He still found time to Chair the Lions CNE Baseball Tournament Snack Bar for the last two years.

Yves is still a dedicated lion and willing to serve his fellow lions of A34 this year.

Camp Huronda Dr. Mike Sarin LION MICHAEL SARIN MJF has been a lion for last 20 years. He has previously served as Club president for 3 terms and for last two terms has served as club secretary. Under leadership of PDG. Lion Bill Allison Lion Michael served as extension chair GMT( 2012-14). In this capacity, Lion Michael was instrumental in starting 3 clubs in District A-711.Lion Michael is Certified Guiding Lion (CGL) and Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF).

Lion Michael was co-chair with Lion Kanta Arora of Toronto Netralya Club for Fundraising Gala in support of Retinoblastoma Program of Princess Margaret Cancer Program and CNIB in 2010. His efforts were recognised by an award from District A-711 and Lions International. He has been Diabetes Awareness Chair for last 10 years. In collaboration with Canadian Diabetes Association he has served as community outreach volunteer serving on various Expos through the year. Lion Michael received Health Professional of the year Award from Canadian Diabetes association for 2009 and 2015.

Lion Michael holds memberships/ fellowship in various national and international organizations which include Royal College of Physicians of U.K and Edinburgh and Canada, College of Chest Physicians (USA), and Diabetes Educator Section of Canadian and American Diabetes Associations.

Lion Michael’s father was personal physician to Mahatma Gandhi and Lion Michael grew in his first 12 years of childhood in the shadow of Mahatma Gandhi. He comes from family of health professional humanists and his passion has been “TO SERVE” humanity through medicine. Teaching has been Michael’s passion and in his professional life at University of Toronto he has received awards for teaching such as: Fitzgerald Academy Master Teacher of the Year Award (University of Toronto); Arthur Squires for Excellence in teaching Humanistic Medicine (Wellesley Hospital) and Aitkins Award for Individual Teaching (University of Toronto).He was also recipient of Honorary Award Foreign Aid Services: Ammathi Project .(United Nations).

Lion Michael has interest in mental health and has been a member of the team developing quality outcome indicators for mental illnesses.

PERSONAL: Lion Michael is married to his sweet heart of 51 years, Marilyn, a RN who works at St.Michael’s Hospital and they have 4 boys(Men now) Tony 51,Jai 49,Kimball47 and Ravi 45.Lion Michael and his wife are avid walkers and last winter they made Toronto Star’s GTA section with a picture of their two German Shepherds on cherry beach on a blustery winter day ( -30C).

Camp Nokomis Jay Haddad Jay Haddad joined the Etobicoke­Queensway Lions Club 15 years ago as the Director of Camp Bellaleo (now Camp Nokomis); this camp was rated the best camp in Canada two years in a row. He has just finished 24 years as the Senior Director of Camp Nokomis on Belwood Lake, outside Fergus, Ontario.

Professor of Psychology for 31 years at Humber College, was the President of the Ontario Camps Association, President and Fellow of the Society of Camp Directors, and an Honorary Life Member of the Ontario Camps Association.

Received the Canadian Camping Association's Award of Honour "for meritorious service to children's camping in Canada", and the Lloyd Raknor Award at Humber Valley United Church for 22 years as the Cub Akela serving youth through Christian Education.

Etobicoke­Queensway Lions sponsor several children every summer to attend Camp Nokomis and we have a long waiting list and appreciate all the Lions'support.

Centennial PDG Donald Bissonnette Lion Donald joined Lions in 1987 in District A9 and served as President of Shelburne & District Lions Club in 1991-1992. He transferred to District A 711 with Erin District Lions Club in 2008 and served as Secretary from 2009-2011 and in 2012, and as President for 2011-2012. He was elected Zone Chair for 2012-2013 and attended the Advanced Lions Leadership Forum in Feb 2012 in Chicago. He was elected as Region Chair for 2013-2014 but was then elected to serve as 1st Vice-District Governor to finish out 2013-2014 and became Governor at the Toronto International Convention. He is now the Centennial Chair for the District , co-Chair for Effective Speaking for MD”A”, and part of the MD”A” Special Olympics Committee. He is a Life member of LFC and a Lions Quest Fellow. He joins his father Peter (1964-1965 – A9) and brother Bill (2005-2006 – A2) as a PDG.

Lion Donald graduated in 1982 from the Ontario Agricultural College with a BSc(Agr) and in 1986 from the Ontario Veterinary College with a DVM. He has completed the Lifelearn Course in veterinary Dentistry in 1994, the Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy in 2000 and the IVAS Course in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2012.

Lion Donald, in partnership with his wife Dawn (also a 1986 graduate from Ontario Veterinary College) owned and operated Shelburne Veterinary Services until its sale in 1999. From 2002 till July 2015 Lion Donald was a partner in the PetVet group of 4 veterinary hospitals in Streetsville and Port Credit in Mississauga, in Stoney Creek and in Scarborough. He still works fulltime for the new owners and is if anything working harder!

Lion Donald lives in Erin with wife Dawn, their 2 Labradors and 3 cats. Dawn also owns 2 Sport Horses which are boarded outside of town. Lion Donald enjoys hockey, curling and golf while Dawn plans to get back into Dressage and Eventing with her horses. Both are active members of the Church of Scientology.

Club Bulletin Contest Al Woolley Lion Al retired from Canada Post as a Commercial Service Representative after 36 plus years.

Lion Al is married to Shirley and recently celebrated 41 years of domestic bliss. They have two children. Bill a Honda Dealer and Karen a teaching assistant for the developmentally challenged with the Peel Board of Education.

He has been a Lion since 1992,and in his over 21 years has served as Region Chair twice, Zone Chair twice, as well as the Membership Chair of the District for six years.

He also served the club to which he belonged as chair of several committees and on the executive. He has been the President of two clubs and was the founding President of the Brampton Village Lions Club in 2006. He has served on several district and club committees. He also chaired the information/Membership booth at the EX for five years.

He served ten years on the Peel, Halton, Georgetown, Orangeville, and Dufferin Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life committee.

Al is looking forward to serving the District and Region 34 and working as the Zone Chair of 34A for the year 2013-14.

Club Efficiency Contest Terrance Richards LION TERRENCE O. RICHARDS MJF aka Lion Tebo has been a Lion for over 13 years. Inducted in 2001, he has served as Vice President and Secretary of the Thistletown Lions Club where he is an active member. He has attended many forums of the International Associations of Lions Clubs including Zone & Region Advisory meetings, District Cabinet, District A711 & Multiple District A conventions.

Lion Terrence is a recent graduate of the Emerging Lions Leadership Institute held in Toronto (November 2012), and received his Leadership Certification from International Association of Lions Clubs 2012-2013 International President Wayne Madden for dedication to leadership excellence “In a World of Service”.

Lion Terrence has a passion for service, and as such, has served Lionism with distinction in several leadership positions over the years including Past Zone Chairman, Past Club President, MERL Team Member, and has held all board positions since 2001.

He was duly recognized for his contributions to Lionism with awards including Membership Key, Lion of the Year, and 100% Attendance awards.

He has displayed his leadership qualities in coordinating projects, group activities, discussions and presentations, and has successfully chaired several projects including Region & Zone Meetings, Convention Registration, Convention Workshops, and headed many other committees and projects at the club level.

An IT Business Analyst and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Lion Terrence has a Bachelors of Science degree (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton, NB, Canada), a postgraduate Honors Diploma (Pg.D.) in Information Technology from DeVry Calgary (Alberta, Canada), and a Masters degree (M.Sc.) in Information Systems Management and e-Commerce from the Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University (Chicago, Il, USA).

His passion for service began as a member of the 4-H Club, Boy Scouts, and Cadet Corps, joined the Leo Club, graduated to the Lions club, and continues in the true spirit of the motto of Lions International - “We Serve”.

CNE & Carassauga Booth Danny Galicia Lion Danny Galicia was born in the Philippines. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Dental Medicine at Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. He was a practicing dentist back home before he migrated to Canada in 1996. He is currently working at Pro Art Dental Laboratory as Dental Technician Supervisor. He lives in Pickering, Ontario and is happily married to his wife Rowena and blessed with two sons.

Lion Danny Galicia is a member of Quezon City Novaliches Lions Club, District 301-D2 in the Philippines from 1991 before joining Toronto Mabuhay Lions Club in 2010. He served as one year and two years term Director, 2nd VP, Secretary, 1st VP and Club President 2014 - 2015.

He has attended two Lions Club International Conventions, one held in Montreal (1996), and the other held in Toronto (2014). He also attended all District Conventions and numerous District and Region/Zone Meetings. He has also chaired Region 58 2nd Governor's Advisory Committee Meeting (2016).

Lion Danny Galicia was given several awards and recognition from his club for his untiring service to the community and outstanding leadership. He was a volunteer during the International Convention held here in Toronto 2014 as Team leader for Hotel Greeters in Bond Place Hotel.

CNIB Bruno Iaboni Lion Bruno has been a member of the Weston Lions Club since 1998 with perfect attendance. He has been his club’s Vice President and was President in 2003-2004.

In the District, Lion Bruno has served as Zone Chairperson twice. He has also been the Lake Joseph Chairperson two years in a row.

He has attended many conventions and district events over the years. He has received several club and governor awards.

Lion Bruno is married to Cathy.

Lion Bruno is retired from CNIB where he was a Rehabilitation Teacher.

Constitution & Bylaws PDG Peter Hammond Past District Governor Peter was born in 1948 and grew up in St. Mary’s, Ontario. He then spent five years attending the University of Toronto where he graduated with a Bachelor-at-Law degree in 1971. After working in Ottawa where he met his wife Mary, he and Mary moved to Mississauga in 1981. He is a patent and trade-mark lawyer and a partner of the firm Ridout & Maybee LLP. He lives in Mississauga and has three grown-up sons, Daniel, John, and Patrick, and one grandson Brent. He will be retiring from the practice of law in December 2013.

Lion Peter joined the Mississauga Central Lions Club in 1981 and has served as Club President for three separate terms. He has served as Zone Chair for Zone 6A and Region Chair for Region 6. He is the Chairman for the Constitution and By-laws for the District. He is a life member of LCI and attended the Senior Lions Leadership Institute in 2010. He has received a number of Lions awards and certificates of recognition, including The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and the Helen Keller Award.

Cultural & Community Activities Sandy Heeralal-Judhan Lion Sandy Heeralal-Judhan became a member of Cooksville Lions in 2000. She is the Lion Sandy joined Lionism in 2000. She graduated from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Not only is she an educator with the Toronto District School Board; she is a proud mother of three wonderful children. Mark and Brian are her sons and Natasha is her daughter.

She has been a Past President of the York Lions Club from 2012-2013. Lion Sandy is a recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson’s Award for her contributions to Lionism. Lion Sandy has also earned the International President’s Membership Award for 2011-2012. In 2013-2014, she was the co-chair for District A7-11 Youth Exchange Program. In 2014-2015 she held the position as Zone Chair in 7B. Lion Sandy received the District Governor’s Certificate of Appreciation for her invaluable service and cooperation in 2014-2015. Presently, she is serving her second term as the District’s Cultural and Community Activities Chair, District A7-11 Youth Exchange Program Chair and also holds the position as Region Chair for Region 7. She is a proud member of the Toronto Netralya Lions Club.

Lion Sandy is an active member in her community. She is involved with Creating Global Citizens. This organization provides youth an opportunity to empower themselves and others in various communities. They are engaged in finding solutions that contribute to healthy, sustainable living, both locally and internationally. Their focus is on the Eight Millennium Development Goals mandated by the United Nations. One of their top priorities is the achievement of Universal Primary Education another is Eradicating Extreme Povety and Hunger.

She is also involved in educational projects and events that foster the bridging of cultures in our communities. Lion Sandy is instrumental in partnering with other clubs to deliver services and support that are desperately needed in some First Peoples communities.

District Administrator - East Paul Maguire Paul married Lion Patricia in the early 1990s. Their daughter Erin is charter secretary of the Queen's University Campus Lions Club, and their son Chris was a Scarborough Kingsway Leo.

Paul's public service began volunteering professional services for national and provincial NFPs. He and Pat have canvassed for various charities. One day, Paul noticed a flyer for the West Hill ­ Highland Creek Lions Club. An email, a call, a few meetings, and Paul was a new Lion. Now he is in his second term as Zone Chair, Effective Speaking Chair and Lions Opportunities for Youth Chair. Paul also attended the Calgary 2015 Advanced Lions Leadership Institute, and volunteered with the Sergeant-­at-­Arms committee at the 2014 Toronto International Convention.

District Directory: Advertising Stan Bryan Lion Stan Bryan is in his 15th year serving as a Lion, he is currently the President of the Huttonville Lions Club, Zone Chair for region 34B, a position he has served in several times, and is the District Officer for A711 Lions Services for Children.

Lion Stan is a proud life member of Camp Dorset and the Lions Foundation.

Prior to his retirement Stan was the National Health and Safety Manager for Relamping Services specializing in commercial lighting and he is still very active in the electrical field.

Lion Stan has 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

District Directory: Editor Gary Dale Lion Gary has been a member of the West Hill - Highland Creek Lions since 2004. He is currently serving his 4th term as President and is a Melvin Jones fellow.

A former computer geek, he has looked after the district web site since 2010. Since the same information found on the district web site is also contained in the District Directory, he proposed in the 2015 that the web site files be used to create the first draft of the directory. The system seems to work as he is continuing the job this year.

District Historian Ray Charbonneau Lion Ray is from the Brockville area of the St. Lawrence Valley and moved to Toronto for work. His business of 20 years specializes in the presentation and management of fine art collections.

He is a 12 year member of the Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club where he has served in every club office and sponsored several new members. He is also a 6 year associate member of the Lions Club of Toronto Central, where he has served as Chairman of the Newman Foundation & Charitable Trust.

He is a Past Region Chairman in District A711 and currently serves as Multiple District ”A” Historian preserving our archives, providing articles for the Lion Magazine and historical presentations.

He lives in Scarborough with his two children Paul and Jaqueline and is delighted be able to serve.

GLT Coordinator Rolando M. dela Cruz, PDG Lion Rollie started his Lionism in the Philippines and continued to be a Lion by joining the Toronto Golden Vision Lions Club. Then he transferred to the Wishing Well Lions Club where he became District A711 Governor in Lion Year 2005-2006.

After his governorship, he served as Membership Coordinator of Multiple District “A” MERL Team and Extension Coordinator for two years. He has been District Extension Chairperson, Retention Chairperson, Cabinet Secretary for three years and Global Membership Team (GMT) Coordinator for three years. At present, he is the District Global Leadership Team (GLT) Coordinator.

He has attended the School for Lion leaders in the Philippines, Senior Lions Leadership Institute in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, Membership, Extension, Leadership & Retention (MERL) Workshop in Columbus, Ohio, USA, Lions Clubs International Faculty Development Institute in Toronto, Canada and Club Excellence Process (CEP) Facilitator Training in Markham, Ontario, Canada.

He was a Lions Regional Leadership Institute Presenter for two consecutive years, Presenter in several Membership and Extension Trainings in Multiple District “A” and District A711 District and Club Officers Trainings.

Lion Rollie is a Melvin Jones Fellow, Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow, Lions Foundation of Canada Life Member and a Certified Club Quality Initiative Facilitator. He is one of the only two District Governors in Canada that received a 5-Star District Governor Award.

He is married to Lilia and has three daughters, three granddaughters and two grandsons.

GMT Coordinator - East Julian Austin Since immigrating to Canada during the early 1970s, Julian Austin has worked as a volunteer for his parish at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Scarborough. As a young person he sat on many committees helping the youth and the elders of the church In The Scarborough Rough River area, where he still lives, he served as a member of the Old Lansing Cut-off Ratepayers Association responsible for the community youth program.

A former policeman in his native Guyana, discipline has been one of his strongest attributes. This has been demonstrated in everything he does. In sports he has represented Canada in the World Cup of Field Hockey, two Pan American Games, helping the national team to win a silver medal and their first gold medal in that sport. The gold medal performance qualified Canada for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984. Naturally, he was a member of that team as well. His contributions to Canadian athletics has earned him two Sports Excellence Awards from the Government of Canada: one in 1983 presented by the late former Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, and another in 1984 after the Olympics by former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

Julian has always tried to lead by example. Married to Laurel, the father of a son and daughter knew what it took to juggle school, work, recreational activities, home life, and volunteering. A former Vice-President, Assistant Welfare Officer of the Guyana Ex-Police Association of Canada, responsible for Fund raising and Event planning. Julian is very active in helping other organizations with their fund-raising. He is one of the many volunteers that take on a project, accomplishes it, and moves on without any bells. Very Humble, his favourite saying is: “If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living would not be in vain.”

Julian Joined the Malvern Onyx Lions Club in its Charter year, served as tail twister, membership director and eventually President, 2009-2010 2010-2011 also is providing the space for its Den. Lion Julian also served as Zone Chair Zone 58B 2014-2015 and Region chair 2015-2016 Region 58. He attended ALLI Calgary Alberta 2015, Lion's University Bachelor 2016, Completed Both Masters and Doctorate studies waiting accreditation 2017-2018. He was also District Chair Be a Donor A-711 (Trillium Gift of life Program).

Julian is very active in the Health field. Volunteering with the Central East Local Integrated Network as Master trainer and Peer leader in the Living a Healthy life with Chronic Conditions Program. His Present Occupation is managing his Franchise, Montgomery In-Home Care.

GMT Coordinator - West PDG Donald Bissonnette Lion Donald joined Lions in 1987 in District A9 and served as President of Shelburne & District Lions Club in 1991-1992. He transferred to District A 711 with Erin District Lions Club in 2008 and served as Secretary from 2009-2011 and in 2012, and as President for 2011-2012. He was elected Zone Chair for 2012-2013 and attended the Advanced Lions Leadership Forum in Feb 2012 in Chicago. He was elected as Region Chair for 2013-2014 but was then elected to serve as 1st Vice-District Governor to finish out 2013-2014 and became Governor at the Toronto International Convention. He is now the Centennial Chair for the District , co-Chair for Effective Speaking for MD”A”, and part of the MD”A” Special Olympics Committee. He is a Life member of LFC and a Lions Quest Fellow. He joins his father Peter (1964-1965 – A9) and brother Bill (2005-2006 – A2) as a PDG.

Lion Donald graduated in 1982 from the Ontario Agricultural College with a BSc(Agr) and in 1986 from the Ontario Veterinary College with a DVM. He has completed the Lifelearn Course in veterinary Dentistry in 1994, the Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy in 2000 and the IVAS Course in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2012.

Lion Donald, in partnership with his wife Dawn (also a 1986 graduate from Ontario Veterinary College) owned and operated Shelburne Veterinary Services until its sale in 1999. From 2002 till July 2015 Lion Donald was a partner in the PetVet group of 4 veterinary hospitals in Streetsville and Port Credit in Mississauga, in Stoney Creek and in Scarborough. He still works fulltime for the new owners and is if anything working harder!

Lion Donald lives in Erin with wife Dawn, their 2 Labradors and 3 cats. Dawn also owns 2 Sport Horses which are boarded outside of town. Lion Donald enjoys hockey, curling and golf while Dawn plans to get back into Dressage and Eventing with her horses. Both are active members of the Church of Scientology.

Hearing Conservation Sally McMann Lion Sally has been a Lion for 18 years.

She has served 3 years as Club Secretary and 2 years as Club President. Lion Sally served as Zone 32A Chairperson and was Cabinet Secretary in 1999-2000. She also served as Zone 7B, Region 7, and District Newsletter Contest Chairperson.

For a 3-year term she was District A711 Campaign SightFirst II Chairperson and raised close to $250,000 for the cause.

Some of the District Committees Lion Sally has worked with are: Conventions, CanAm nights, and Peewee Baseball.

Lion Sally has attended all District Conventions, 4 MDA Conventions, 3 U.S.-Canada Forums and various leadership training seminars. She attended the Reno Senior Lions Institute in 2004 and is a Certified Guiding Lion. Sally is one of the Guiding Lions for the Halton K9 Lions Club.

She is a recipient of a Helen Keller Award, a Melvin Jones Fellowship. 3 International President’s Certificates and the International President’s Leadership Award.

She is currently Secretary of the Freelton Lions Club and MDA Effective Speaking Secretary. She is enjoying immensely the experience of belonging to a rural Lions Club.

Lion Sally has a son (Bill) and 2 grandchildren (Emma & Riley) and a daughter (Laura), who has two little boys (Harrison and Jacob).

International Relations PDG Ilkka Ahola Ilkka I. Ahola has been a Lion since 1983 and he is currently a member of the Toronto Suomi Lions Club. He has held various positions in his club and in the district.

Lion Ilkka was born in Finland. He graduated from Technical College for Radio and Telecommunications. He also studied at Athenaeum Art for film, acting and singing.

Lion Ilkka immigrated to Canada in 1972 and started working at City-TV. Later he joined Global Television and worked there for 30 years as Senior Studio Engineer. He has been very active in the film and television industry and he is a member of the Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society (SMPTE).

Now he is semi-retired and works as an adviser with Digital Film Productions so he has more time to work with Lions. He always like to find new Lions fundraising ideas and hopes that the new high tech fundraising ideas will bring youth to our Lions.

Ilkka has participated extensively in many leadership workshops for Lions. This includes the Faculty Development Institute, the LCI Senior Leadership training and the LCI-MD “A” Regional Lions Leadership Training.

Ilkka and his wife Sisko have been married for 38 years. Their son Jeremy is 27 years old.

LCIF District Coordinator PDG Samuel A. Dako Lion Sam was born in Ghana, West Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1980. He was educated at the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana (1965-1969) and worked in the Information Technology industry for 38 years. He is recently retired from Hewlett Packard, Canada after 23 years and is an active member of Portico Community Church in Mississauga where he serves as an usher.

Sam has been married for over 35 years to his wife Veronica and they have a daughter and two sons.

He was inducted into Lionism in the year 2003 and became Club President in 2006-2007, Zone Chair 2007-2008, Region Chair 2008-2010, 2nd Vice District Governor 2010-2011 and 1st Vice District Governor 2011-2012.

Lion Sam attended the LCI Senior Leadership training in Toronto in 2008 and is a recipient of Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship Award and the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

Lions Opportunities for Youth Paul Maguire Paul married Lion Patricia in the early 1990s. Their daughter Erin is charter secretary of the Queen's University Campus Lions Club, and their son Chris was a Scarborough Kingsway Leo.

Paul's public service began volunteering professional services for national and provincial NFPs. He and Pat have canvassed for various charities. One day, Paul noticed a flyer for the West Hill ­ Highland Creek Lions Club. An email, a call, a few meetings, and Paul was a new Lion. Now he is in his second term as Zone Chair, Effective Speaking Chair and Lions Opportunities for Youth Chair. Paul also attended the Calgary 2015 Advanced Lions Leadership Institute, and volunteered with the Sergeant-­at-­Arms committee at the 2014 Toronto International Convention.

Pee Wee Baseball Yves Drouin Lion Yves has been a lion for over 23 years. He worked on the Sight First One Program and has served as Zone Chair as well as the President of his club. He served as the charter Treasurer of the Brampton Village Lions Club.

He gathers fellows lions together annually for the Brampton Village Lions as the chairman of their golf tournament . He has served the District for two terms and is still the Chairperson for A711 of Camp Dorset.

He is a life member of both Lions Foundation of Canada as well as Camp Dorset and is a committee member of the VIP Lions Car Rally.

He still found time to Chair the Lions CNE Baseball Tournament Snack Bar for the last two years.

Yves is still a dedicated lion and willing to serve his fellow lions of A34 this year.

PR & Lions Information Ray Charbonneau Lion Ray is from the Brockville area of the St. Lawrence Valley and moved to Toronto for work. His business of 20 years specializes in the presentation and management of fine art collections.

He is a 12 year member of the Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club where he has served in every club office and sponsored several new members. He is also a 6 year associate member of the Lions Club of Toronto Central, where he has served as Chairman of the Newman Foundation & Charitable Trust.

He is a Past Region Chairman in District A711 and currently serves as Multiple District ”A” Historian preserving our archives, providing articles for the Lion Magazine and historical presentations.

He lives in Scarborough with his two children Paul and Jaqueline and is delighted be able to serve.

Mary Lou Pollock Lion Mary Lou Pollock was Born in Oshawa, and lived in Brampton for 25 years. Lion Mary Lou was introduced to Lions by her parents, who both had cabinet positions in District A16.

She had attended conventions with both of them and participated in other Lion activities. Very involved in Cooperative housing for 15 years as a volunteer both local and regional.

Having been in Lions for 20 years, Mary Lou has been Club President twice and presently Club Director with the Brampton/Bramalea Lions Club. She has two daughters, a foster daughter, step daughter and 12 grandchildren.

Graduated from George Brown college in Power Plant Engineering and presently a Condominium Manager. Hobbies, spending as much time as possible scuba diving, travelling and genealogy.

Mary Lou works at promoting Special Olympics (two of her grandchildren are Special Olympic athletes). Two of her grandchildren have attended conventions with her and volunteered in Lions Activities. Her oldest daughter is a Coach for Special Olympics, track & field and swimming and manages the 5 pin bowling for Brampton.

Website and IT Gary Dale Lion Gary has been a member of the West Hill - Highland Creek Lions since 2004. He is currently serving his 4th term as President and is a Melvin Jones fellow.

A former computer geek, he has looked after the district web site since 2010. Since the same information found on the district web site is also contained in the District Directory, he proposed in the 2015 that the web site files be used to create the first draft of the directory. The system seems to work as he is continuing the job this year.

Youth Camp & Exchange Sandy Heeralal-Judhan Lion Sandy Heeralal-Judhan became a member of Cooksville Lions in 2000. She is the Lion Sandy joined Lionism in 2000. She graduated from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Not only is she an educator with the Toronto District School Board; she is a proud mother of three wonderful children. Mark and Brian are her sons and Natasha is her daughter.

She has been a Past President of the York Lions Club from 2012-2013. Lion Sandy is a recipient of the Judge Brian Stevenson’s Award for her contributions to Lionism. Lion Sandy has also earned the International President’s Membership Award for 2011-2012. In 2013-2014, she was the co-chair for District A7-11 Youth Exchange Program. In 2014-2015 she held the position as Zone Chair in 7B. Lion Sandy received the District Governor’s Certificate of Appreciation for her invaluable service and cooperation in 2014-2015. Presently, she is serving her second term as the District’s Cultural and Community Activities Chair, District A7-11 Youth Exchange Program Chair and also holds the position as Region Chair for Region 7. She is a proud member of the Toronto Netralya Lions Club.

Lion Sandy is an active member in her community. She is involved with Creating Global Citizens. This organization provides youth an opportunity to empower themselves and others in various communities. They are engaged in finding solutions that contribute to healthy, sustainable living, both locally and internationally. Their focus is on the Eight Millennium Development Goals mandated by the United Nations. One of their top priorities is the achievement of Universal Primary Education another is Eradicating Extreme Povety and Hunger.

She is also involved in educational projects and events that foster the bridging of cultures in our communities. Lion Sandy is instrumental in partnering with other clubs to deliver services and support that are desperately needed in some First Peoples communities.
